The Stone Family Playground was created by the community via many generous private donations to the Winchester Neighbor’s Club. Construction was completed in 2013. Since that time, it has been frequented by hundreds of Winchester families daily and continues to be the town’s most used playground. 

A few upgrades have taken place recently, the result of an ARPA grant and some hard work by the DPW. There is a new We-Saw. The donor fence has been cleaned and repaired. The gates have been replaced. The bridge rails have been replaced and much of the overgrown shrubbery has been trimmed back. We know that additional replacements or repairs will be needed in the coming years.

This is just one of many projects the Friends are engaged with currently or recently completed, including:

• New benches and windscreens at the Leonard courts
• Bath house renovation at Ginn
• New roof on the Borggaard bath house and interior renovations
• Town grants:
  • $40k for volleyball courts at Borggaard
  • $6,500 for sound study
  • $2,574 for construction materials
• Other grants and commitments:
  • $50k for pickleball court design and engineering (CPA)
  • $5k to WYSB for Ginn sod and irrigation
  • $30k to WCMS capital campaign (2024)
  • $10k to WFEE for Creative Technology Center (2024)

Our 2025 matching campaign will help us to ensure that the Stone Family Playground continues to be a key recreational asset for Winchester families. All funds raised will be held in a separate account, restricted for use only on the Stone Family Playground. All donations are tax deductible.
